Our Mission
Love God by glorifying Him and making him known to the ends of the earth.
- Love God
- We seek to love God in everything we do as the chief most important priority as commanded consistently by God in the Old and New Testament.
- Deuteronomy 6:5–6 (ESV)5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
- Mark 12:29–31 (ESV)29 Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
- Heart — Love God with your whole being
- Soul — Love God with your feelings and emotions
- Mind — Love God with all your thinking, understanding, and intelligence
- Strength — Love God with all your capable strength
- 1 Corinthians 8:2–3 (ESV) 2 If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. 3 But if anyone loves God, he is known by God.
- Glorify God
- The purpose of Hartford Baptist Church is to glorify God in all we do.
- Glorify God through good works.
- Matthew 5:16 (ESV) 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- Matthew 5:16 (ESV) 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- Glorify God through your body.
- 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 (ESV)19…You are not your own, 20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
- Glorify God in whatever you do.
- 1 Corinthians 10:31 (ESV)31So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
- Glorify God in everything.
- Romans 11:36 (ESV 36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.
- Make God Known
- We are to be a witness to the world through making disciples of all peoples, baptizing anyone who confesses Jesus as savior, and teaching the inerrant Word of God.
- Make God known in our neighborhoods, the Wiregrass, and across the world.
- Acts 1:8 (ESV) 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
- Make God known through making disciples.
- Matthew 28:19–20 (ESV)19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
